Hey Tyler,

I was just reading through your blog, and it's pretty compelling, even for someone that's not a financial sector enthusiast.

The one caveat that I would add to this story about the North rising again is that a strong case could be made that Bush 1 and 2, while both ostensibly Texans, are strongly rooted, both socially, educationally and geographically to the Northeast. People tend to forget that all of the Texan folkiness is largely an affectation that covers up a strong Northeast patrician upbringing.

I'd love to hear what you think about that angle.

Either way, I'll definitely put your blog on my to-read list. Hope all is well with you and the family.

Jim

Jim,

I thought about making a comment that Bush senior was originally a northeasterner. His power base, however, was in Texas, so I let it slide. Bush II was raised in Midland, so I give him "credit" for being from the Sunbelt.

Best,

Tyler
